What is almond oil anyway?
Almond oil is naturally liquid, usually looks a little
yellowish and smells slightly sweet to mildly nutty. Oh yes, and of course the
oil is made from almonds. But did you know that there are both sweet and bitter
almonds. Which type of almond oil you choose depends on what you need it for.
Here we briefly explain the differences:
•Sweet almond oil: Sweet almond oil is made from sweet,
edible almonds. You can use it to cook and bake, as well as take care of your
skin and hair.
•Bitter almond oil: Bitter almond oil is obtained from
bitter almonds. Essential oils, baking flavors and liqueurs such as amaretto
are made from the oil. ( You can find bitter almond oil here at Amazon *)

Almond oil under the
microscope: These ingredients are in it
Almond oil consists mainly of unsaturated and saturated
fatty acids, more precisely from oleic, linoleic and palmitic acids.
•Oleic acid: The lion's share of 60-70% is accounted for by
oleic acid (an unsaturated omega-9 fatty acid). It penetrates deep into the
skin, is easy to distribute, makes the skin feel soft and cared for, and makes
the skin more receptive to other nourishing ingredients.
•Linoleic acid: The second important ingredient, which makes
up about 20% of almond oil, is linoleic acid. This unsaturated omega-6 fatty
acid also has it all. Because it be responsible for a lot of moisture, it is
ideal for dry skin . It also serves as UV protection, has an anti-inflammatory
effect and prevents skin irritation.
•Palmitic acid: With another 5%, the saturated palmitic acid
completes the beauty trio. It protects the skin from external influences, is
moisturizing and nourishes mature skin.
Vitamins A, B, E and D, minerals such as potassium,
magnesium, calcium and other proteins are added to the three oils.
•Vitamin A: Vitamin A is found in many antiaging products.
By supporting the formation of keratin and collagen, it tightens the skin,
makes it more elastic and works against wrinkles. It also protects against free
radicals, reduces sebum production and thus ensures an even complexion.
•Vitamin B: Vitamin B promotes cell growth and the
regeneration of the skin.
•Vitamin D: Vitamin D strengthens the skin. Bacteria have a
hard time penetrating the pores and triggering inflammation sources here. Signs
of a vitamin D deficiency can be blemished skin or poor wound healing.
•Vitamin E: Almonds contain a lot of vitamin E. And that has
an antioxidant effect and protects against free radicals. Vitamin E firms the
skin and makes the complexion appear finer and more even.
